Business mobile phone plans are an important opportunity for any team. LinkedIn reports that 57% of sales professionals saw an increase in calls to customers in the last 5 years. There’s a lot to consider when choosing the best cell phone plan for your company. At first glance, you’ll likely be concerned with pricing, coverage hardware compatibility and unlimited deals.

Things to consider when choosing mobile phone plan for your business

Monthly or annual costs

If you choose a prepaid plan (monthly or annual) you can have more control on costs because the flat tariffs never change, and you’ll never face any surprise on bills.

Smartphone Lines and Pricing

It’s a good idea to consider also the number of lines your business needs. Service providers will often offer a lower per-line price, but you’ll have to buy several lines to get the discount. It might be more affordable in the end to buy one or two lines rather than buy extra lines your company doesn’t need or can’t afford.

Free Phones and Purchase Credits

While the top carriers frequently allow you to bring your own device, it might be possible to get a new phone for your business matched with your contract. If not a free phone, it’s common to provide you with substantial credit worth or bonus.

Type of Mobile Phone Plans

There are three main types of cell phone plans: pay-as-you-go, prepaid and postpaid (the typical contract plan). With pay-as-you-go plans, you purchase a bucket of minutes that is drawn against every time you use your phone. Prepaid plans work like regular monthly postpaid plans, but without the commitment, and you pay for all usage in advance.

Mobile Plan Pay-As-You-Go

For those that don’t like to be tied to a contract or want to be surprised by the extreme costs at the end of the month, a prepaid plan is a good fit. It is a flexible plan that allows you to manage your mobile phone usage based on economic forecasts. This option, that may be called as PAYG, means you pay upfront and are not tied into any contract or commitment.

You’ll also have to have your own handset to put the Sim (the little chip that slots into your phone and gives you your allowance of minutes, texts and data) into already, or buy one separately. There’s no credit check, which most of the top pick contract Sim only deals require, though these often offer better value.
